$9,000 granted 11/26/2021 to provide general operating support to meet the increased food assistance needs of low-income individuals in our community. (Fall 2021)

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley - $50,000 granted 4/7/2020 (Covid Strategic Grant)

This donation helps provide the equivalent of 100,000 meals! Second Harvest currently serves an average of more than 1,300 individuals per month through grocery and meal programs in San Carlos. The following are Second Harvest’s partner agencies in San Carlos:

  • Catholic Charities/CYO — San Carlos Adult Day Services

  • Edgewood Center for Children and Families

  • Family Connections

  • One Life Counseling Center

  • Peninsula Family Connections

  • Peninsula Works

  • San Carlos Service Clubs for Seniors

  • Social Vocational Services

  • St. Charles Catholic Church

  • Women’s Enrichment Center

As part of the grant agreement, the Community Foundation has requested that the funds will be prioritized to serve members of the San Carlos community. Any remaining funds can be used to serve people in need in nearby Bay Area communities.

In the event that a distribution is cancelled, clients are directed to the closest resource to their home via the Food Connection Hotline (1-800-984-3663) and text system (text “GETFOOD” to 1-408-455-5181). Residents can also visit https://www.shfb.org/get-food/ for more information on how to access free groceries and meals near where they live and work.
