The Community Foundation of San Carlos aims to inspire community engagement and build community connections, to be stewards of our public places and natural environment, and to strengthen the quality of life for the entire diversity of the San Carlos community, now and for future generations.

Did you know that less than 10% of philanthropic giving in our region goes to organizations serving our local community? Join those looking to be part of the change and build community together.
When you give to the Community Foundation, 100% of your gift will impact those who live, work, learn, or play in San Carlos. Unless you direct us otherwise, 75% of your donation will support local nonprofits and community building programs in the coming year, with the remaining 25% set aside into the endowment for longer-term community benefits.

A century ago, town founder Fred Drake called San Carlos “A Town of Human Friendliness.” The Community Foundation of San Carlos is dedicated to ensuring this legacy extends to every resident. Since 2020, we have served as a vital bridge—connecting neighbors, celebrating diverse traditions, and ensuring that everyone feels a true sense of belonging.
We fulfill this mission through our support of two core pillars: Grant Making & Community Building.
Grant Making
Connecting Generosity to Local Need
We connect generous hearts to local nonprofits that serve as primary support systems for our most vulnerable neighbors. Through the incredible support of foundation donors, we have invested over $1 million in essential local programs.
Your Impact: Direct funding for food security, senior services, relief efforts, youth programs, and the arts—supporting the critical networks that help residents navigate challenges.
Community Building
Building Bridges & Connections
We actively foster connection between residents, whether you have lived in San Carlos for 30 years or 3 years. We work to ensure new voices are heard and everyone has a place at the table.
Your Impact: With local support, the Foundation fuels vibrant volunteer traditions like Week of the Family, sponsors local performers at Hometown Days, and partners with neighbors for community mural paint days—bringing us closer together and establishing deep local roots.
