Your Generosity in Action: Transforming Lives in San Carlos
Your gift is a direct investment in the resilience and well-being of our neighbors via local nonprofit grant funding and community building through events like Week of the Family and Hometown Days.
Make Your Gift
The San Carlos Community Foundation connects your generous support directly to the most vital programs in our community through our Grants Program.
In 2025, we funded 16 local nonprofits that provide direct services to our community members.
Your investment is building resilience, fostering belonging, and ensuring a brighter future for all our neighbors, as you’ll see below.
Preparing Children for Success
Learning Home Volunteers
“We can't afford preschool. I want my child to have a good career to be a professional. He is smart. I can work with him each day to make sure he will do well in school.”
- A Parent in the Program
With Foundation support, parents of low-income children receive the training and materials they need to become their child’s first teacher. While only 70% of low-income children nationally enter kindergarten ready, an astounding 96% of children in this program are ready to succeed on their first day.
Cultivating Empathy & Healthy Habits
Each Green Corner
"It was heartening to see the kids beginning to understand that they could actually plant food that would be healthy for them and might make a difference for someone who was hungry. The total engagement of the children... brought home how much they were learning, not only about healthy food, but also about empathy."
— Each Green Corner Volunteer
Your support is helping young students connect with nature, understand where food comes from, and develop compassion for those experiencing food insecurity.
Aging with Dignity & Community
Villages of San Mateo County
"We are grateful for five years of transformative partnership... Our partnership has enabled us to create a place where joy, meaningful connections, and essential support flow naturally through the lives of our elders... San Carlos seniors are aging not just in place, but in community, with dignity, confidence, and a true sense of belonging."
— Villages of San Mateo County Leadership
San Carlos has become the vibrant center of Sequoia Village, thanks to sustained Foundation support. This partnership ensures our elders stay active and connected:
"I had to stop driving and was so worried... Since then, it's been a dream come true—I'm not alone. I go to every event and many drivers have become lifelong friends. I'm happy!"
— Our very first Village member, age 93
Offering Compassion & Basic Needs
St. Vincent de Paul - St Charles Conference
"We are grateful that we can help bring comfort and support to those in our community. We deliver food, grocery cards and provide rent, utilities, transportation or other basic needs."
— St. Vincent de Paul Volunteer
Your funding allows volunteers to meet with neighbors in need, listen to their stories, and provide critical, immediate assistance right here in San Carlos.
Sparking Conversation and Action
Bravemaker Films
Over 150 filmmakers gathered for BraveMaker’s 7th Annual Film Festival, featuring stories that explored justice, empathy, and inclusion. The event fostered professional growth and deepened audience connection to urgent social and human issues through film, sparking emotional responses and real-world action.
Building Stability & Hope in Recovery
Voices of Recovery
"Thanks to the San Carlos grant, we were able to increase the attendance in our groups and reached more clients in need. It empowered me to provide critical support, tools, and resources that transformed lives."
— Voices of Recovery Staff
Participants describe the groups as "always empowering" and an "inspiration to look forward to long-term recovery," highlighting how this funding provides the stability, confidence, and hope necessary for lasting transformation.
