Community Awards Banquet
The San Carlos community will come together on February 1st, 2025 to celebrate the amazing individuals and organizations receiving awards for 2024.
This special evening will take place at Domenico’s Winery in San Carlos, a beautiful venue perfect for honoring our local heroes. The event will begin at 5:30 PM with a cocktail hour, featuring a no-host bar where you can enjoy a selection of beverages while mingling with fellow community members. At 6:30 PM, we’ll gather for dinner, followed by the highly anticipated awards ceremony where we’ll honor our San Carlan of the Year award recipients, Cori Carpenter and Debbie Denton, for their outstanding contributions to our city.
In addition to recognizing Cori and Debbie, the Business of the Year and Non-Profit of the Year awards will be announced shortly, honoring those who have made a significant impact in our community.
The event will conclude at 9:30 PM, providing an evening of celebration, camaraderie, and inspiration.
Dress Code: Cocktail Attire

San Carlan of the Year
The San Carlan of the Year is awarded to an outstanding San Carlos Resident - who through exemplary community service or volunteerism, has had a significant impact on the community. Nominees are reviewed by a committee of recent winners and other community leaders. A nominee's contributions should have been made over the past year or few years. The 2024 recipient will be honored at the San Carlos Community Foundation's Awards Banquet on February 1, 2025.
The following are the requirements for nominees:
The recipient(s) must live or have lived in San Carlos during 2024
Their outstanding service to the community should include humanitarianism, charity or volunteer work, and/or heroic deeds
Their service must be as a volunteer - beyond the general scope of regular, paid work
Local elected officials (e.g., City Council, School Board) are not to be considered until they have been out of office for a period of two years
Nominations may come from individuals or organizations
Prior San Carlos Citizens of the Year
From 1974 through 2020, the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce selected the San Carlos Citizen of the Year, an award that recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the San Carlos community. Past recipients have demonstrated a strong commitment to volunteerism, civic engagement, and improving the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, learns, and plays in San Carlos. They have been involved in a variety of activities, including serving on city boards and commissions, organizing community events, and supporting local businesses and organizations.

The Community Foundation of San Carlos is thrilled to bring back this annual award starting in 2024. with a new name - San Carlan of the Year - recognizing that many residents do not yet hold US citizenship.
