Tai Chi Sword Demonstration & Performance (beings at 5:30PM)

Performers: Susan Hu (class master), Ulf Dreschke, Susan Peterson, Annie Ye and Beckyt Tsai

"FIVE ANIMALS" Qigong exercises

These exercises imitate the actions and habits of the tiger, deer, bear, monkey, and bird. In these exercises, each animal consists of two consecutive forms. The traditional principles of health qigong are represented by balancing the body, breath, and mind.

TAI CHI 8-FORM yang style

This is an excellent form for beginners as it is fairly easy to remember and it includes the necessary basics to move on to more complicated forms. Students are able to learn proper breathing, posture, balance, and concentration which will improve the fluid and gentle movements of Tai Chi.

TAI CHI SWORD 32-form

This form shows the martial arts origins which Tai Chi exercises are based on. It employs the traditional Chinese straight sword, demonstrating most of the major sword fighting techniques found in Yang style sword.


Indian Dance Medley

Performers:  Aparna Ramakrishnan, Mona Mehta, Manisha Shah, Preeti Chinnan, Sheila Brar, Vidya Hariharan

There are many diverse traditional dance forms across India, which are often incorporated into the musical style Indian films that are so popular around the world. A group of local San Carlos residents will perform a medley of Tamil and Hindi film songs with choreography that draws from Tamil, Gujarati, and Punjabi folk dance as well as the “Bollywood” musical style. This fusion of Indian folk and modern dance is a reflection of the performers’ diverse dance training - and the result of a fun collaboration. They are excited to share their love of Indian dance with you- and invite you to join in at the end!
