What is the San Carlos community grant program?
The Community Foundation of San Carlos provides community grants to local nonprofits that help families, uplift the vulnerable, and support /enhance community life. The community is defined as everyone who for lives, works, learns or plays in San Carlos.
Where do the grant funds come from?
The available funds for each grant cycle will change based on (1) the market returns from the investment of the endowment (2) donations from community members and (3) funds from other sources (Government, Foundations, and Businesses).
Grant Size
Grant awards range from $2,000 to $15,000. The award can be fully or partially funded based on available funds and the committee’s assessment of the strength of the application.
Duration
Grants are one-year awards. The Community Foundation does not yet have the financial means to offer multi-year grants and provide grants to numerous organizations. Can grant awards be used for general operating Support?
Yes. Nonprofits’ performance, operational efficiency, financial statements are vetted as part of the application process. The purpose of the community grants are to amplify the work of nonprofits.
Expectations
Grantees are expected to spend granted funds by June 30th and provide a short report by that date describing the use of the funds and the impact they had. If you don’t expect to use the funds in this timeframe but would spend them within a year, please contact us to discuss your situation. Please submit reports or questions to grants@sancarloscf.org .
What is the Community Foundation of San Carlos?
The Community Foundation of San Carlos was established in 2019 to support nonprofits that positively impact the San Carlos Community. It is a 501c(3) charitable organization and is managed by a board of community volunteers from the San Carlos community.
