San Carlos Community Rallies to Help Local Children of domestic violence victim
On the morning of September 8, tragedy struck a San Carlos family in the most extreme form of domestic violence. Karina Castro was brutally murdered, leaving her two young children without their primary caretaker.
The Community Foundation of San Carlos in partnership with the City of San Carlos, has accepted $50,234 from 516 generous donors from San Carlos, the greater San Francisco Bay Area, across the nation and the globe. The outpouring of support for these children from the San Carlos community exemplifies how our community responds to tragedy.
These funds are being held in trust for the future benefit of the victim’s children. The Foundation and the City of San Carlos are working with the appropriate government agencies and the family to set up the right structure to ensure that 100% of these donations will benefit these children.
We are grateful for our compassionate community.
