With the generous outpouring of support from local donors, the San Carlos COVID-19 Response grants were awarded to over 40 nonprofits between March - November 2020. Four grant cycles were run by our all volunteer committee members to review and award provide support and services to our most impacted community members and nonprofits.
Navigating mental health challenges through work-mediated relationships
$45,000 granted since 2020 for serving adults (18+) with psychiatric disabilities (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression, anxiety) with socialization and daily and job skills development.
Community-Based Financial Uplift of Low-Income Single Moms
$5,000 granted in 2024 to support WANDA’s match funding initiative and the facilitation of curriculum taught by program alumnae.

Helping San Carlos Neighbors Thrive
$42,000 granted since 2021 to the local chapter who serve as a safety net to the San Carlos community by providing food, rent, utility assistance, furniture, and clothing.
Provides Low-Income San Carlos Residents With Free Groceries
$7,000 granted since 2023 to the San Carlos Service Club for Seniors (aka Caring Cupboard) who provide free weekly groceries to low-income San Carlos residents

Supporting the Immigrant Workforce
$29,000 granted between 2021 and 2024 for providing assistance for the immigrant community, including basic needs, employment, health, and legal assistance including support for the Multicultural Institute’s Life Skills and Day Laborer Program.

How the Village Movement Is Making Graceful Aging in Place Possible
$34,000 granted from 2021 to 2024 to enable seniors to "age in place" by offering transportation, social gatherings, home safety via modifications, and other services.
Relief on Loan: Access to Free Durable Medical Equipment for Children and Adults
$23,000 granted from 2022 to 2024 to the Medical Equipment Lending Program (MELP) who lend durable medical equipment to adults and disabled children.
Bridging the Education and Generation Gap
$36,000 granted between 2021 and 2024 for providing tutoring to academically struggling K-8 students in San Carlos and Redwood City.
$30,000 granted between 2022 and 2024 for preparing 2-5 yr olds to be ready for kindergarten by providing learning tools and parent training.
Bringing World-Class Musicians to Peninsula Schools
$2,710 granted for offering grade-appropriate classical music assemblies at all of the local schools (Fall 2023).
$5,000 granted for sharing San Carlos' past and evolution as a local museum, with funds for new exhibit display cases and much needed repairs and upgrades to exhibits including tech/accessibility enhancements (Fall 2023).
